The picturesque village of Ullapool was designed by Thomas Telford and founded as a herring port in 1788. Whilst the fishing industry has declined over the years there is still a small local fishing fleet landing prawns and fish in the evenings. In recent years Ullapool has evolved to offer the visitor so much more, we hope that you enjoy all that our village and surrounding area has to offer.

Ullapool Museum trust was formed in 1991 to collect, promote and preserve the history and heritage of Lochbroom. In 1996 the Trust opened the award winning Ullapool Museum.

An Talla Solais is a community-led art centre in Ullapool hosting a wide range of exhibitions of contemporary art. An Talla Solais also runs classes, courses and events to enable people to connect with art they also offer studio space to artists and groups.
The Harbour Gallery opened in Tarbert in 2012 and expanded into Ullapool in April 2015 offering a wide range of original art and prints much of it locally sourced.
